All about Nature, about the outdoors<>I love it, photograph it and protect it.
I have lived all but the first seven years of my life in the Sunshine State and although there are many fabulous things about the Florida, the one that I truly detest is how we so consistently we reach and hold those furnace-like temps for around seven months out of every year.
I know that we can’t approach the Natural World as though it were a smorgasbord, picking and choosing only the stuff we like; I know I’m a colossal, whiny baby when I say such a thing, but I said it.
Now, I have found that when I do a lot of outdoor stuff here in the Central Florida region–for me that includes camping, beach trips and yardwork–I do tend to acclimate and my personal misery index definitely drops.
But because those of us who have jobs tend to spend most of our time in our consistently air-conditioned indoor spaces, the acclimation thing doesn’t always work so well. My living arrangement for the last three years has meant I don’t need to do any yardwork and so my body just thinks the temps are simply horrible, no-good and a tool from the devil to torment me here from March to September and that I must simply submit. Bummer!
So let me belatedly get to the main point I was hoping to make today with this posting: we’ve reached the mid-point of summer today and we’re now heading straight to Autumn and some blessed relief! I know that most folks don’t pay a bit of attention to that, but it’s a BIG deal for me! It gives me hope!
Don’t despair, friends! We’re halfway to the Autumnal Equinox and some milder temps, some fabulous Holidays and more opportunities for some cool outdoor fun!
Who’s ready for that?!
In blisteringly hot West Central Florida, I am;
