Conservative Columnist Jennifer Rubin Tears Into Our Trumpenfuhrer

Since Jennifer Rubin is not a bleeding heart Libtard, you might think that tRump supporters would give some credence to what she’s saying. But, of course, the vast majority of them will not.

Let me quote from her column which was published yesterday, June 4, 2017:

“We wound up with this president because millions of Republicans could not prioritize character, decency and overall fitness to serve over their mundane and frankly petty partisan wish list (28 percent top marginal tax rate!)”

And she didn’t stop there; Rubin goes on to say:

“Self-appointed religious leaders fail to see that this soullessness — not the dreaded liberal elite who insist on saying “Happy Holidays” or refuse to countenance discrimination against gay customers — is a threat to the moral fiber of a democracy that requires a modicum of common sense and human decency to function.”

To read her very insightful and very timely opinion piece in the Washington Post where she thoroughly takes down our scum-bag unPOTUS just follow the link.

This treasonous, know-nothing, would-be dictator is hell-bent on carrying out the Alt-Right agenda and trying to undo everything done by his predecessor just because he’s a hateful asshole. He has not changed since he decided long ago to become birther-in-chief in an attempt to delegitimize Barack Obama. He hated our twice-elected 44th President then and he hates him now.

Some of his die-hard (former) supporters see all of this clearly; that’s why his approval ratings have been dropping fast since the woeful day he took office. However, the majority of his supporters never will and see all of his frequent train wrecks, including the matter of collusion with Russia’s attempts to throw the election, as proof of that terrible “liberal conspiracy” against their beloved leader. They’re not going change.

If there is a successful terrorist attack during his presidency — especially if casualties are high — tRump most certainly will try to tear the heart out of American democracy and the bill of rights in order to become a dictator like all the ones around the world for whom he has repeatedly and enthusiastically expressed admiration.

Contempt on all of you who are complicit in our #Trumpenfuhrer‘s attempt to scuttle our democracy so he can win his current self-produced reality show and become America’s First Tyrant.

Another Look at North Carolina’s Voter Suppression Bill

Rethuglican legislators in many red states have been trying hard to keep the “wrong kind” of voters from the polls ever since the SCOTUS gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act; that unfortunate decision, Shelby County v. Holder, came down in June of 2013.

There have been so many regressive laws passed since that decision which were calculated to keep the a large segment of Democratic base from participating in elections — Presidential elections — in particular. One of the most notorious and far-reaching of those bills came out North Carolina in July of 2013. HB 589 was hastily passed with very little public comment and was immediately challenged. Although it was originally upheld on appeal, last month the Appeals Court for the 4th Circuit struck down HB 589 saying — among other things — that it was crafted “with surgical precision” to keep African Americans from voting in North Carolina.

I first blogged about the decision striking down this accursed bill on July 29th. That posting was entitled Strict Voter ID Law Overturned by Appeals Court; you can view it by clicking on the category American Life and Politics without having to scroll back through four months’ worth of posts.

This is really a follow-up to highlight an excellent WaPo article by William Wan which lays out the larger story about how this hellish bill came to be; I found it to be a very good and detailed piece and recommend to anyone who has an interest in North Carolina’s Voter ID law or voter suppression techniques in general. Now that we’re a mere 62 days away from a truly monumental Presidential election we need to remain on-guard. The Republican Party knows that a huge chunk of the American electorate — and the courts — are onto their game. We can’t afford to sit idly by while they do their damnedest to disenfranchise voters they don’t like on election day.
