Quick beach trip, two photos

Quick beach trip, two photos

I did make a quick beach excursion yesterday and took about 60 shots. It was cloudy and rained intermittently.

That was good in that it kept the crowds from getting out of hand, which is a thing here in Florida all throughout the summer.

But, of course, it made for a less-than-optimal picture day!

I came away with two I’d like to share. Yes, the first one is the banner pic you’ve already seen. And yes, the one below is the other!

If the conditions had been more ideal, there’s no doubt at all that I would have been fighting tourists for space as I  went on my quest for the perfect shot! There are trade-offs in everything we do in life, and it is what it is.

It was another one of those less-than-perfect but  totally-worthwhile excursions! I’ll take ’em every chance I get!

The weather here in Orlando the day after getting back home and unpacking is simply awful! What’s a poor puppy to do?

Lori Wilson Park might be…

Lori Wilson Park might be…

My fave park in Cocoa Beach is Lori Wilson Park, adjoining the beach. Right off A1A. And it just might be the the best spot in the very cool town of Cocoa Beach for outdoor freaks like me.

There are plenty of things to do and see in and around Cocoa Beach. I’ve seen quite a few of them. But I do keep returning to LWP over and over.

The banner photo is one I took a while back that I like a lot and has not been shared yet. I hope you like it.

Peter Pelican is cruising north

Peter Pelican is cruising north

When I get to the beach with that camera in my hand, I see a lot of gulls. They’re featured very prominently on this blog.

I don’t get pelicans that often. They’re faster than gulls and tend to dive-bomb a lot, so getting good shots of them is not such an easy assignment.

This one’s not so bad. So here is Pete. Yes, he’s northbound. Probably to the Cocoa Beach pier where his odds of finding something good to eat with minimal effort are quite good.

In the meantime, he makes for a pretty good pelican pic.

Thank you, Peter. Happy hunting.

Best Photo Never Seen

Best Photo Never Seen

It just could be! I looked through several folders of outdoor pix today in an effort to find the best photo which I had not featured on this blog before.

That’s sometimes a pretty daunting task. The lovely pic that caught your eye when you came over today is the one I chose. Not sure which photo would be in that spot right now if I’d had more time to devote to that task!

But I have a deadline, and here’s the winner!

And it’s a fine photo, no doubt about it!

I’m about to get off-line and get some shut eye. Just might be sifting through the photo box again tomorrow…

We’ll see!

Crowded Beach, Serene Beachscape

Crowded Beach, Serene Beachscape

I made it out to the beach yesterday and, yes, it was just a bit crowded! But, it’s June in Florida, so that’s just how that works!

When beachgoers are almost on top of each other, it’s not my fave time to head for the shore. I didn’t stay for very long this time out.

But I do love to catch some beachscapes. In Florida, that’s pretty much a can’t miss proposition!

The banner pic is one I like. It makes me feel tranquil.

That’s not a bad thing.

Wishing you moments of calm. Moments of tranquility, throughout your day today.

Honey, I forgot to duck!

Honey, I forgot to duck!

…said Ben never!

But enough silliness! Some of you may remember when that somewhat unusual phrase was uttered by Ronald Reagan back in the early ’80s.

I’ve never said that, because when I’m around waterfowl of any variety, I whip out the camera and just begin to duck away!

I duck early. I duck often. I duck every chance I get.

The banner photo today is of one good opportunity to duck that presented itself at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa not too long ago. I have not featured it on my blog until now.

I’m just tickled pink at the thought that this photo could very well be the best duck pic you’ll see all day!

Hope you get out soon to see something good beyond those confining walls which encapsulate you through most of your day.

And it wouldn’t hurt to take a photo or two!

PS: I’m not saying that this fellow is definitely a duck! I’m much better at photography than I am at waterfowl identification. If it’s not, and you know what it actually is, please straighten me out with a comment! Seriously!
